The SMS Lady Phoenix suffered a tough loss to the Cass Lady Colonels 33-29 Thursday. The game went back and forth for most of the second half. Carrie Cheeks had a team high 16 points for Sonoraville. Katie Wells tossed in five and Bre Horner followed with four. Keris Kennington and Erin Whitlock contributed two each. Aundrea Parker led the charge on the defensive end of the floor. The girls record is now 1-3. All teams will take on Calhoun on Saturday starting at 10:00.
JV
The JV team lost their first game of the season in a close 23–22 contest against the Lady Colonels at Cass. Cass jumped up to an lead early against Sonoraville but the team kept it close through the whole game. Kendall Bowman and Becca Cheeks led SMS with seven points each. Taryn Hickey added six with four coming from the free-throw line. Abby Connally tossed in two points. Sonoraville was 8-for-16 from the free-throw line.
