Basketball: Sonoraville Middle School beats Sourth Central

The Varsity Lady Phoenix basketball team got a big win as they defeated South Central 22-6 on Thursday. Katie Wells had several steals and connected for six points. The duo of Bre Horner and Aundrea Parker scored four points each. Carrie Cheeks and Reagan Redd were close behind with three apiece. Kalee Meadows came off the bench and added two. “All the girls hustled on defense,” said Head Coach Pat Hensley.

Sonoraville will play Ashworth at home on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

JV

The JV Lady Phoenix put another win on the boards as they defeated the Lady Chieftains of South Central 19-4. Haley Ponder came off the bench and scored six, leading all scorers. Taryn Hickey and Kendall Bowman scored four each. Emalie Hicks and Abby Connally added two apiece. Evie Delp tossed in one. Becca Cheeks and Carli McCormick helped out on the defensive end.



Nov. 14

The SMS girls’ basketball team was defeated by Cartersville 40-18 on No. 14.

“We did not play defensively like we should have and this was the difference in the game,” said SHS Head Coach Pat Hensley.

Bre Horner led the Lady Phoenix with eight points. She was followed by Carrie Cheeks who netted seven. Aundrea Parker had two points and Emalie Hicks had one.

JV

The JV team beat Cartersville 20-14. Taryn Hickey led the team with 10 points. Katie Wells had five points, Evie Delp scored three and Keris Kennigton netted two.

“Abby Connally and Katie Wells both played a great defensive game,” said Hensley. “Taryn Hickey was the rebounder for the day.”
