If you are looking for a way to burn off some extra calories and spread a little holiday cheer, Berry College has the perfect answer: the fourth-annual Jingle Jog 5K. This year’s event, which also includes a 1-mile fun run, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, on the world’s largest college campus.
Registration forms are available for download at www.berry.edu/athletics. The entry fee is $20 ($10 for Berry students and pre-registered children under the age of 10). Participants who submit their forms before Nov. 18 are guaranteed a race T-shirt, jingle bells and a Santa hat. Race-day reg-istration will also be available beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Ford Dining Hall. The fun run gets under way at 9:30 a.m., with the 5K following at 10.
Athletes Bettering the Community (ABC), the service arm of Berry’s intercollegiate athletic pro-gram, is hosting the event as a way to raise money for needy families this holiday season. Last year’s event drew approximately 350 competitors, and ABC is hoping for another big turnout.
Both the fun run and the 5K are open to participants of all ages. As a special treat, Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance to add to the holiday cheer.
Prizes will be awarded in the 5K for top overall finishers (male and female) as well as the fastest male and female runners in each designated age group. A special prize will be given to the partici-pant sporting the most festive holiday costume.
