Chieftains Museum announces upcoming workshops! Pick a new skill and call to make your res-ervation. The following three workshops will be held on Saturday, November 21, the deadline to sign up will be Tuesday, the 17th.

Basketweaving- 12p.m to 4p.m., make a beautiful basket even if you have never wove a basket be-fore. $ 30.00 and all materials included! This class is taught by local basketweaver, Tisa Barton. Space is limited to 10.

Flintknapping- you will learn how to make your own arrowheads. 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. You will receive all supplies and any arrowheads you make. Limit of 10, call by November 17, 12 years old and up. $20.00 per person.

Atlatl/Spear throwing- learn about the atlatl and take home one along with 2 darts. 1p.m. - 4p.m. , 10 years old and up. Limit of 20. These two workshops are taught by Andy Lee who has been teach-ing for more than 10 years.

Quilling workshop-December 5th. Quilling or paper filigree is the art of creating designs with narrow strips of paper that have been rolled, shaped and arranged to form designs. Must sign up by November 27th. Learn how to quill and create a beautiful poinsettia ornament and card for Christmas. Quilling Only $25.00, limit of 12. this class is taught by Mary King. Starts at 10 a.m.

- Fifth Annual Festival of Trees Nov. 2 – Dec. 6 100 beautifully decorated, themed Christmas trees for silent auction. Raffle tree. Free Admission.

- Adult Comedian Sara Tiana Haynes in Concert: Nov 14, 8pm. This Calhoun native is taking Hollywood by storm. Sara will have you laughing in the aisles. (Not Appropriate for children.) Adults 18 and up. Tickets $15 Non Members $12.00 Members

- The Community Chorus Sings “Songs of the Seasons” Nov. 20 &21 8pm Tickets: $15.00 Non-Members $12 Members, seniors and students.

- Calhoun’s Got Talent Auditions: Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 6pm (18 and Up) Only Contact the Harris Arts Center at 706-629-2599 for details and an application. Deadline for applications is November 29.

- Shaw Family Workshop: Eggshell Ornament: Decorate a real eggshell into an heirloom quality keepsake Christmas ornament. Nov. 21, 10am – 1pm. Cost $45 Non Members $35 Members. Call ahead to reserve your space. 706-629-2599

- Kids Art Classes Begin Tuesdays Oct. 6, 4:15-5:45pm In this six week course children will learn the basics of color, composition and design through a variety of projects that include clay, painting and 3-d projects. Cost $70 Members $80 Non-Members plus a $20 supply fee.

- Adult Clay Classes Begin Tuesdays Oct. 6, 6:30-9pm $80 Members $90 Non Members Studio Time , Beginners Class $140.00 (Includes instruction, studio time and 25lb bag or clay.) Students will learn the art of hand building clay projects for decorative and useful art objects.
