A Fairmount man who won $500,000 in the Georgia Lottery while moving to a new home plans to buy furniture and a new truck or minivan with his winnings.

Eduardo White, 45, bought his winning ticket at Shell Food Mart on Ga. 53 in Calhoun.

“We just moved there over the weekend,” he said. “While we were moving, I decided to stop to get breakfast, and I bought the ticket.”

White was in his car when he scratched the ticket for the instant game $500,000 Monopoly.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I just closed on the house last Friday.”
