The department took home second place honors in the region 7-AA One Act Play competition held at the Cedartown Civic Center on Thursday, Nov. 5.
The contest is sponsored by the Georgia High School Association. The cast was thoroughly thrilled with two cast members selected for All-Star cast – Jessicah Bennett for her role as Dorothy Brown and Tori Lee for her role as Mrs. Meers.
According to co-director Kim Watters, the highlight of the day was Chelsey McCLeskey’s performance as Millie Dillmount which won her the Best Actress in the Region, an award a Gordon Central cast member has won 6 of the last eight years.
“It was a very exciting competition this year, with a close finish. We were so thankful for all the people who came down to support us in the competition. It’s a little disappointing to know that we don’t get to go on from here, but we are excited for our friends who won. Mike Earnest and I always try to make sure the students have a wonderfully satisfying experience when they do theater at GC," said Watters.
The Next Gordon Central Theater production will be the Winter Dinner Theater which will run Feb. 5 and 6, 2010.
