The Red Ribbon campaign saw a widespread exposure as many organizations, schools and businesses came together to promote a drug free community last week.

Shawn Mashburn, “Drugs Don’t Work” director at the Chamber of Commerce, said “Gordon County Red Ribbon week would not have been such a success without the support from the com-munity. The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce is proud to thank those organizations that make drug prevention programs possible throughout the year.”

Mashburn said “it was such a community effort. Everyone, from the small businesses to schools, stood up to make an impact for this cause.”

“We pushed the red and bows, but it’s much more than that. This is an ongoing cause,” she said.

“The Chamber’s Drugs Don’t Work Program offers at least two Lunch and Learn opportunities each year. The Lunch and Learn Programs are presented in order to offer drug education opportuni-ties to the Gordon County business community,” said Mashburn.

She said Red Ribbon week activities brought an increase in drug awareness throughout Cal-houn and Gordon County.

“It is estimated that over 1,000 red ribbons decorated Gordon County this year for Red Ribbon Week; a true show of support that our community is committed to being drug free,” said Mashburn.
