Washington, D.C. – Congressman Phil Gingrey released the following statement today after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrat leaders unveiled their latest plan for a government takeover of health care that will raise taxes, increase our national debt, and put government bureaucrats between patients and their doctors:

“The Democrats have tried to make health care reform the seminal issue of this Congress. I agree that it is imperative to reform our health care system in this country to provide every American citizen the ability to access quality, affordable health care.

“I have spent the last ten months trying to share my perspective, as a physician with over 30 years of experience, with my Democratic counterparts. My constituents and millions of Americans across the country have also spent the last 10 months trying to make their voices heard by the President and the Democratic Majority. Today proved that the Democrats just don’t care what practicing physicians — and the American public — think.”

“The bill they unveiled today was drafted behind closed doors by Nancy Pelosi and her liberal allies. A fancy press conference on the Capitol steps and a new bill name and number doesn’t hide what this is: a government takeover of our nation’s health care system. This is the absolute wrong direction for America and a death knell for quality care for American patients.”

Just wondering - how are the people that are out of jobs supposed to afford healthcare? That's the problem with these politicians - they are not in our income bracket, so nothing they think makes sense in the realm of most ordinary people's lives. The median household income a year ago in Gordon County was $42,000.00 (and you can assume that's dropped with all of the unemployment). Gingrey is a former physician, and right now his salary is $174,000.00 - not to mention that all of his travel, mail, business, etc... expenditures are paid for by the government he's griping about - oh yeah, and did I mention that his health care is provided by the government, and very very cheaply!

Having Universal Healthcare is not Socialization. We are the only nation of this size and prestige that does not offer at least the basic healthcare for every man woman and child that is a citizen. Aren't any of the rest of you sick of these guys, like him, talking down to you and acting like you're so dumb you will believe any pile of crap they try to scare you with.

Oh, and you can think what you like on either side of the isle - Gingrey and the guys he runs with are the same ones that wanted to do away with Social Security and make it so that everyone had to pay into 401K's instead - I don't know about your 401K, but mine stinks after the last couple of years of Bush and Gingrey!

Rep. Gingrey's loyalty lies with the insurance companies and medical companies. Most of his campaign contributors are in those fields. He will never do anything to help the people of north Georgia as long as he is owned by special interests
