A Gordon County man is in jail after allegedly assaulting two women at knifepoint.

Gale Lee Connell, 53, of 2158 Moore’s Ferry Road was arrested on Monday afternoon after the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a disturbance.

Responding officers met with two Calhoun women who reported they'd been assaulted at knifepoint at Connell’s home.

Connell was described by officers as being extremely intoxicated.

Responding detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and obtained evidentiary statements.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at Connell's home, and recovered what they believe to be the knife used in the assault.

Connell has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of sexual battery and two counts of Battery. He remains in the County Jail pending bond proceedings.
