Gordon County is in the red- against drugs.

Oct. 26-30 is Red Ribbon Week in Gordon County and Wednesday, Oct. 28 has been designated "Wear Red Day".

Red Ribbons will be displayed all over Calhoun and Gordon County during the week, and the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses and organizations to display (and wear)red.

Local schools will celebrate all week with different educational and fun activities.

The chamber suggests that each company or organization announce Wednesday, Oct. 28 as "Red Ribbon Day" and encourage employees to wear red.

The chamber is also asking companies to send photos of their employees wearing red. The photos will be displayed on the chamber's Web site.

Red Ribbon Week is a week long drug awareness campaign that provides an opportunity to bring parents, schools, businesses and others together to help create drug free communities. Our community will sponsor events to raise awareness and to show our commitment to reducing the demand for drugs. The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Drugs Don't Work Committee has worked in conjunction with many other organizations to plan a successful campaign in our area.
