Calhoun wins BGMSAA girls golf tourney; Ashworth and Sonoraville compete

The Calhoun Middle School girls’ golf team recently won the BGMSAA Region Tourney with a team score of 94. Ashworth placed fourth with a score of 119 and Sonoraville was fifth with a score of 130.

The Lady Jackets were led by Kaitlyn Smith who was the low medalist of the day with a 43. Amber Parker completed the scoring for Calhoun with a 51, good enough for third overall in the individual competition. Also competing for the Lady Jackets were Macey Parrott (64) and Rachel Green (65)

Ashworth was led by Catie Worsham, who shot a 52, good enough for fifth overall in the individual competition. Becky Worsham and Tori Hopper each shot a 67. Amber Gwin had a 69.

The Lady Phoenix were led by Makenna Burger’s 69. Spenser Dunn shot a 70.

Adairsville placed second in the competition with a 111. They were led by Courtney Cochran, who finished second overall in the in the individual competition with a 46.

Woodland placed third with a score of 117. Mallory Ketchum placed third in the individual competition with a 51.

The boys will compete in the GCMSAA Region Tourney on Oct. 22.
