Ashworth golf team wins tri-meet

Ashworth boy’s golf team defeated Sonoraville and Cass at their last outing Friday by 21 strokes. Ashworth posted a score of 201. Low medalist for the match was Andrew Crider shooting his season low of 42 at Fields Ferry. Branton Bailey turned in a 45. Seth Culpepper carded a 56, posting his lowest round of the season. Also scoring for the team was Mason Miles and Kent Warth who shooting 58 each.

Scoring for Sonoraville was Gunter Jordan with a 49, Griff Bryant with a 51, Tanner Sanderson shot a 63 and Cody Puckett shot a 66. The Phoenix placed third with a team score of 229.

Ashworth’s girl’s golf team defeated Sonoraville and Cass at their last outing Friday by 10 strokes. Ashworth shot a team score of 120. Leading the team to victory was low medalist Catie Worsham turning in a 57. Amber Gwin scored for the team with a 63.

Scoring for Sonoraville was Makenna Burger, shooting a 63. Sonoraville and Cass both shot a team score of 130.

“Our golfers have been practicing very hard this year. I admire their dedication to improving themselves,” said Melanie Moore.
