After receiving a master of science degree from the University of Mississippi, Gregory Alex took a position with Baxter Travenol Labs as a bench chemist. Gregory was promoted to biological control manager and became an international quality control manager. After many years with Baxter Travenol Labs, Gregory changed direction and went to Bible School and eventually started pastoring. He currently pastors a church in Hixson, TN. As biology instructor for GNTC, Gregory teaches Medical Microbiology and Human Anatomy and Physiology.
Sharon Davis received a diploma in business office technology from GNTC in 2008. She also received certificates in business data entry clerk, office assistant, and business computer applications. Her previous position was part-time receptionist on the Gordon County Campus of GNTC. As a financial aid technician for GNTC, Davis will assist and advise students with their financial aid needs. Her responsibilities include receiving and verifying financial aid data, processing applications, awarding financial aid, and assisting in the reconciliation and completion of various federal and state reports.
Tyler Gayan received a master of science degree in criminal justice from Georgia State University in December 2006 and a bachelor of science in criminal justice with a minor in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1990. From 1990 to 2006, Gayan was employed by the Concord (N.C.) Police Department where he served in patrol, traffic safety, vice and narcotics, departmental training, and recruiting and hiring. As a coordinator and instructor for the criminal justice program, Gayan is responsible for guiding students who wish to pursue a career in public safety.
Jared Harris received a bachelor degree in public administration with a minor in criminology from Auburn University in 2005. He is an alumnus of the nationally recognized City of Auburn Student Firefighter Program, which provides students with tuition deferment to Auburn University while serving the City of Auburn and Auburn University as state certified firefighters. Prior to gaining employment with Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Harris had progressed to the rank of corporal with the Rome Fire Department. Harris is also a licensed insurance agent and is a team member of Terry Simmons State Farm agency. As fire science technology instructor/director, Harris’s responsibilities include instructing, recruiting, advising, and mentoring students interested in serving their communities with careers in the fire service.
