Non-profit, civic and community organizations serving Calhoun and Gordon County are encour-aged to apply for grants during the foundation’s fall 2009 grant cycle.

“This continues to be a particularly challenging year for programs serving Calhoun and Gordon Counties,” foundation chairman David Lance said. “Grants that we will make this year are made possible because of the foundation’s permanent endowment. This fact provides a clear illustration of the strategic value of ‘saving for a rainy day.”

Formal applications for funding are located on the foundation’s new Web site at www.communityfoundationNWGA.org. Just click on the Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation icon and follow instructions.

The grant deadline is Oct. 1. All necessary site visits will be scheduled during early October.

The Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation was established in November of 2004 to promote philanthropy and build local endowment resources for the residents of Calhoun and Gordon Coun-ties.
