Trail of Tears ride begins tomorrow

The Official Georgia Trail of Tears Remembrance Motorcycle Ride also know as Charlie Maxwell Memorial Ride, will take place for the 11th year Friday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. The gathering of the Trail of Tears riders will be at Harley Davidson of Cartersville and will include Native American music and dancers and breakfast provided by Henry’s Louisiana Grill of Acworth. Motor-cycle ride departs promptly at noon to join the ride coming from Cherokee, N.C. for a group ride in remembrance of the Native Americans of Georgia and North Carolina. The destination on Friday is Thunder Creek Harley Davidson in Chattanooga, Tenn.

There is no registration fee to ride. Ride T-shirts will be available the morning of the ride for purchase. All proceeds from T-shirt sales go to educational scholarship funds for Native American descendants. The ride is police-escorted and riders are required to obey all laws and law enforce-ment orders.

A Native American festival will continue through Sept. 20, complete with vendors, Indian dancers and other educational activities at Harley-Davidson of Cartersville located at 2281 Hwy 411. Call 678-721-0203 for details.
