The 2009 COLT Conference was held on July 21-23, at the Georgia FFA/FCCLA Center near Cov-ington. This year's COLT theme was 'Piecing It Together". Each officer team attended work shops that focused on building team work, displaying professionalism, and planning their chapter's Pro-gram of Activities for the coming year. Students also attended sessions to discover their officer du-ties, build parliamentary procedure and public speaking skills, and gain valuable FFA knowledge. These work shops encouraged students to set goals and provided them with a variety of ideas for recruitment, community service, public relations, and fundraising.
"For chapter officers, there is no better way to start the year than with COLT conference," says State FFA Vice President, Chelsea Garner. "We challenge these officers to work together and to empower the other members of their chapter."
The officers from the Sonoraville High FFA chapter who attended the COLT conference were: Ashley Davenport, Amber Kay, Jaron Gilbert, Zarek Gill, Araceli Macias, Holly Smith, Chris Re, and Crysta Nicholson. After long, hard, rigorous hours of hard work, Sonoraville High FFA officers won the state wide Opening Ceremony contest. The opening ceremony team consisted of the following: Ashley Davenport, Amber Kay, Jaron Gilbert, Zarek Gill, Araceli Macias, and Holly Smith.
