Candace Camille Ward and Michael Shaun Cole were united in marriage Saturday June 20, 2009 at 11:00 am at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in the “Pocket.”
The bride is the daughter of Sherry & Ed Baker of Armuchee and Richard Ward of Dalton. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Frances of Armuchee and the late “Judge” Barton and Ge-neva Ward of Dalton and the late T.A. Ward.
The groom is the son of Wanda Cole of Calhoun and the grandson of Betty Smeed of Bas-com, Fla. He is the brother of Christopher Cole of Armuchee and Jaclyn Cox and Matthew Cole of Calhoun.
Dr. Wayne Hopper performed the double-ring ceremony. The altar was adorned with rose petals, candles and ferns.
The bride walked down the isle to a violin solo of “Canon in D.” The wedding music also included an a capella solo of “That’s All” performed during the ceremony by the bride’s cousin, Jamie Barton, of Houston, Texas.
The rings were presented to the couple by their mothers.
The bride wore a strapless ivory Galina gown with a fully beaded lace overlay with a sweep train. She also wore opal earrings that were given to her maternal grandmother by her grandfather.
She carried a clutch of pale and deep pink roses wrapped in an ivory satin ribbon and a handkerchief belonging her late uncle, Thomas Ward.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held for friends and family.
After the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Pensacola, Fla. They now reside in Resaca.
