UPDATE A Bartow County teacher charged with child molestation has been suspended with pay pending a decision by the school system, Superintendent John Harper said today.

Gina Leigh Sabin, 39, is a fifth grade teacher at Cloverleaf Elementary School.

"We're working with our legal council and the school board to determine what additional actions will be taken with her," Harper said.

Original story from Aug. 25 A former Calhoun Elmentary teacher has been arrested and been charged with child molestation, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office said today.

According to information from the BCSO:

Gina Leigh Sabin, 39, of Cartersville, was arrested today by sheriff's office investigators and charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation.

Sabin is being held in the Bartow County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Sheriff Clark Millsap confirmed the alleged victim is a student, but not at the school where Sabin teaches.

Sabin taught fifth-grade at Cloverleaf Elementary School in Cartersville.

Quite funny to me that the last comment was made by a person who's profile is "udontknowthetruth" since this person obviously doesn't know the facts.

Anyone can be arrested in a situation like this without any type of evidence. All that is needed is a statement by a kid. Of course, kids never lie, right? Not unless they are spiteful, angry 14 year old boys with a grude. This teacher is a good friend of mine and she has not "confessed" to anything. She certainly isn't going to confess to something she didn't do!

You may want to apologize for your rash judgement and spreading of rumors. The next arrest could be yours. This could happen to anyone!

How would you feel if this had happened to your son? I think it is so funny that you two wrote that because this is a woman you write this.. if this was a man who has done this to a little girl or boy you all would want people to know. YOU DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH. The defendant in this picture confessed to this to her personal counselor...that is why she went to jail. So she skrewed her own life no one else did this. Do you really think they would have done all of this to her without any proof. NO. And you know what if you live in a small town don't do shit you don't want other people to know about! And the only embarrassment her family is going threw if finding out the truth about there mother & wife.

I think it is sad that we publish this in our local newspaper before this lady has even had a trial to determine if she is guilty or not. Now, if she is proven innocent of the charge, her name and face have been in the newspaper and I can't imagine the embarrasment her family is going through.
