A Calhoun man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Ga. 225 early Wednesday morning, according to the Gordon County Coroner’s Office.

According to Deputy Coroner Heath Derryberry:

Colin Lane McFarland, 41, of Calhoun, was driving on Ga. 225 near Corinth Road around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.

McFarland’s vehicle rolled and he was ejected.

Emergency personnel worked on McFarland at the scene before transporting him to Gordon Hospital, where the coroner pronounced him dead.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck.

Could someone, who has posted here or someone who knows Colin, please send me a note on Facebook? [Jo A Dale]

I had a very good friend by this name [Colin McFarland] who was an avid computer user, scuba diver, hot-rod enthusiast, rock climber ... however, much of our conversations were about computers/programming/hacking.

I have lost touch with him in the last couple of years.

I apologize to family and friends for this post because I am sure it is insensitive in nature at some level but I need to know if this is the Colin I knew.

Again, my apologies,

joanna

Dear Colin, It seems like yesterday we were riding around together and hanging out. This has come at such a shock. You will greatly be missed. With love, Amber

I have always told my husband that Colin was one of the few people I trusted. That made me feel at ease and was fond of our kids. A pleasure to have had in my life.

Philip has always held him in high regards. He is distraught as to why this had to happen to Colin. He wasn't just a friend. He was family, to all of us. He will be deeply missed.
