Calhoun police were forced to reroute north bound traffic on highway 41 late Tuesday afternoon after a traffic collision that left one man injured and at least one person arrested late Tuesday afternoon. Neither driver has been identified.

According to Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss, a man driving a late model Mustang 5.0 was injured after the driver of a Ford Explorer XL illegally crossed highway 41, causing the two vehicles to collide on the corner of 41 and Erwin Street.

Moss said the driver of the Mustang was heading north on highway 41 when the driver of the Explorer pulled out in front of him. The driver of the Explorer, a young man Moss believes to be 18, was arrested for driving with a suspended learner’s permit.

The driver of the Mustang was taken to Gordon Hospital to be treated for cuts on his hands. Moss said he did believe all the drivers involved were wearing their seatbelts.

The north bound lanes reopened around 5:45 p.m.
