Calhoun City Council members have entered into a friendly football wager with their Dalton counterparts.

Dalton mayor David Pennington and Dalton City Council Member George Sadosuk visited the Calhoun council’s Monday work session to extend an offer to treat the council to lunch if Calhoun High School wins its game against the Dalton Catamounts Friday.

Pennington promised the Dalton council will wear CHS hats during lunch at the Dalton Depot if “by some small chance” the Yellow Jackets beat Dalton.

The wager works both ways, though, he explained. If the Jackets lose, Calhoun Council members will be obligated to take the Dalton council to lunch at a restaurant comparable to the Dalton Depot.

Calhoun Council Member David Hammond said he looks forward to dining on Dalton’s ticket.

Pennington said the game will be “standing room only.”

Two city council members have voiced their intentions to pursue reelection this November.

Hammond (Post 4) and Ray Denmon (Post 3) both said they wish to remain on the council.

“I can’t wait to get the opportunity to talk to the citizens and hopefully earn their trust one more time,” Hammond said.

Election qualifying will take place Aug. 31 through Sept. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Calhoun City Hall.
