Joan Brake and David DeFreese were wed on June 6, 2009 at Meadowdale Baptist Church in an outside motorcycle wedding. The marriage was performed by Ron Bently, Minister of the Gospel.

The bride is the mother of Tiffany Goforth and Anthony Brake of Calhoun. Her parents are Jeff and Faye Fields of Ranger, and grandparents are Murray and Mary Johnson and the late George and Blanche Fields of Ranger.

The groom is the son of Robert DeFreese and the late Virginia DeFreese of Calhoun. His grand-parents are the late Rans and Vadie Rogers of Cherokee County and the late William DeFreese and Elsie DeFreese Boswell of Calhoun. The couple will reside in Calhoun.
