The Rev. Bryan Smith of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony. The altar was centered by a mass arrangement of summer garden blossoms in shades of white including roses, oriental lilies, and hydrangea. Tree candelabra, adorned with sword fern and English ivy, framed the wedding party. Pillar candles placed in glass fixtures illumi-nated the setting.

A program of wedding music was provided by Donna Hester and vocal solos by Marvin Williams. Selections in-cluded “Standing on Holy Ground,” “I Will Be Here,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Canon in D,” “Bridal Chorus” and “Wedding March.”

Bridesmaids were Michelle Bowen Arp, Jessica Laney Carney, Sally Rush Echols, Melissa Morrow Smith, all of Rome, Brittany Beth Evans of Atlanta and Lindsey Arlene Gordon of Douglasville. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of opium red roses tied with black satin.

Maris Kate McMahon, niece of the bride, Olivia Anne O’Tinger and Laney Marie Carney were the flower girls. They each wore ivory French tulle dresses with pearl beading on the bodice. Maris and Olivia rode in a wagon deco-rated with garland and Laney carried a pomander of red roses.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore an ivory and champagne satin gown featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline with cinched bust, beaded lace bodice, pick-up skirt and a peek-a-boo lace hem. The back bodice laced down and flowed into the chapel-length train. Her two-tier fingertip-length veil had a beaded scalloped edge. She wore teardrop pearl and diamond earrings, borrowed from her mother, a teardrop pearl and diamond necklace, a gift from her parents, and a pearl ring. In the bride’s shoe she carried a six pence token which her mother and her sister had each carried on their wedding day. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of black magic and opium roses accented by eucalyptus berries tied with ivory satin.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Ballrooms of Forrest Place. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier butter cream icing cake. The base of each layer was wrapped in red ribbon and fresh flowers topped the cake. The bridal confection was accented by opium roses.
