A recent rash of thefts from automobiles has the Gordon County Sheriff's Office cautioning residents to lock their vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a number of thefts thefts from automobiles in the Newtown/Craigtown communities.
The thefts tend to take place in residential areas, in the late night and early morning hours. The thieves target unlocked automobiles and take valuables such as purses, cellular telephones, laptop computers and cash.
No suspicious vehicles that detectives believe could be connected to these crimes have been reported to the Sheriff’s Office at this time.
Night patrols in these areas have been increased in response to these incidents.
Sheriff Mitch Ralston urges everyone to lock your automobiles and take your keys, and to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
