Pastor of First Baptist Church airlifted to Erlanger after Friday afternoon wreck

Bert Vaughn, long-time pastor of First Baptist Church in Calhoun, was injured in a motor-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon and has been airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Few details were available about the wreck, which happened on Ga. 53 Spur near Coosa Valley Technical College.

Calhoun Police confirmed the wreck late Friday.

Vaughn’s son, Calhoun attorney Jesse Vaughn, was on his was to the Chattanooga hospital, said his law partner John Leggett.

Vaughn has served as pastor of First Baptist Church for almost 30 years.
