There were firearms in close proximity, but Folen was taken into custody without incident. Detectives described the interior of the burglarized home as “totally trashed” with human and animal excrement strewn about.
After being placed into the patrol car, Folen kicked a window out of the rear passenger compartment. Folen, was transported to Gordon Hospital for examination before being taken to jail. Detec-tives determined that there was no relationship between Folen and the occupants of the burglarized home.
Detectives have charged Folen with burglary, criminal damage to property, and interference with government property.
Possible escape plot at the jail
Also on Monday, around 10:30 p.m., a jailor was in the process of conducting a routine blood pres-sure check on a jail inmate when he was suddenly attacked by a second inmate for no apparent reason.
The jailor sustained a shallow cut about his throat from an object investigating officers believe to have been a plastic eating utensil. The officer was able to subdue the inmate and lock him back inside a cell.
The inmate, Troy Pack, 20, of Calhoun, has been charged with aggravated assault, and riot in a penal institution. Pack was originally in custody regarding a probation violation.
Investigating detectives have developed information leading them to believe that the attack may have part of an escape plot and are continuing to follow that lead.
