Five Sonoraville Middle School students recently attended All State Chorus in the Savannah, Ga. Savannah Hames, Katlyn Sexton, Braylen York, Abby Wright and Madeline Fox endured two auditions to be able to participate in this event.

They were all in the Middle School Treble Choir made up of 268 girls from around the state. More than 8,000 students in the state auditioned for All State Chorus among the 1,800 middle and high school aged students who participated.

The students were under the direction of Ms. Andrea Ramsey, a PhD. student at Michigan State University. A native to Arkansas, Ms. Ramsey has taught in public education and is known for her work with 7th and 8th grade students.

Together the choir and Ms. Ramsey delivered what some in the audience considered, “the best performance of the night.” There were six choirs to perform that evening with a range of ages from 7th grade to 12th grade.

While the girl’s favorite songs vary amongst the five of them, they are all agreed that being able to sing any song with so many voices who love music as much as they do has been a great experience that is worth repeating.
