Around noon on Thursday, March 7 a deputy sheriff on routine patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a private residence on the Resaca-Lafayette Highway near the Resaca community.

The deputy stopped to investigate and interrupted a burglary in progress at the home.

Karen G. Burk, 51, and Crystal Dawn Garmon, 26, were arrested without incident at the scene.

The Deputy found stolen property in the women’s automobile.

Detectives have charged Burk and Garmon with first-degree burglary and possession of methamphetamine.

The stolen property was returned to the rightful owner, and both were being held in the Gordon County Jail pending bond proceedings.
