Rembert Keith Austin, 59, and Shera Renee Walden, a.k.a Shera Renee Morris, 26, were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, on the morning of March 8, according to reports.
Following the execution of search warrants of the residence, a large quantity of methamphetamine, several thousand dollars in cash, as well as written records of transactions were discovered. More than half a pound of methamphetamine was seized during the course of the investigation.
Austin, who was on probation for a previous methamphetamine trafficking conviction, has been charged with four counts of sale/distribution of Methamphetamine, and three counts of trafficking in methamphetamines.
Walden a.k.a Morris was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.
Detectives thanked the defendants for keeping written records that provide excellent evidence in court, as well as opening new investigations. The arrest of at least one other defendant related to the case is imminent.
The arrests were made after a two-month long investigation, beginning in January, by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit from information received regarding the sale and distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine from a private residence in the Resaca community.
According to reports, the investigation involved many man-hours of surveillance and undercover work. As a part of this case, several undercover purchases of methamphetamine were made.
“The deputies from the MCU and CCPU squads did a fine job wrapping up this case today. They worked hard, and we look forward to putting these defendants before a jury of their peers here in Gordon County,” said Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston.
