Deputy sheriffs responded to a report of a stabbing at a private residence in the Sonoraville area on Friday, March 1.

Deputies arrived on scene to find a female victim who had been stabbed with an edged weapon a number of times, according to a press release from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrested Thomas John Maytum, 45, of Calhoun without incident at the scene and charged him with five counts of aggravated assault.

The victim was transported to Gordon Hospital where she was treated and later released.

Maytum remains in custody at the Gordon County Jail pending bond.
