  • The Calhoun Kiwanis will host Bowl-A-Rama, at the Calhoun Bowling Center on Saturday, March 9 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Kiwanis Club of Calhoun is sponsoring a Beach Party Bowl-A-Rama on Saturday, March 9 at Calhoun Bowling Center. Each five member bowling teams are asked to secure donations of $250 per team as a team goal. Teams can bowl at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. and bowl two games, shoes and team picture. There will be great door prizes, awards, music and fun for everyone. To register your team just call Judy Norris at 706-266-7383. Sponsorships are available.

  • Dancing with the Stars team Dr. Kirby Peden and Dr. Cindy Brown will be hosting a country carnival event Saturday March 9. The Country Carnival will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church gymnasium. A live band, kid’s games, face painting, horse rides, a small petting zoo, old fashioned carnival games and a cake walk will be fea-tured at the event. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best boots, big belt buckles and cowboy hats. With a $10 entry fee per person, children 3 years and under will be admit-ted free, all proceeds will benefit the United Way.

  • Calhoun City Schools are hosting a special event to raise money for Dancing with the stars team Katie and Michael Clark at the GEM Theatre on Saturday, March 9 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be a Drumline feature presentation from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. followed by com-edy with Michael Clark and special guest Larry Brown from 8 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The event will end the night with a trashcan band from 8:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Advance tickets for the event at $15 and can be purchased at the front office of each city school and the central of-fice on Barrett Road. All proceeds will benefit the United Way.

  • The Tornado Benefit rally bicycle ride is Saturday March 9. The ride is posted on Active.com. Adairsville High and Sonoraville High are putting on a bicycle ride to benefit the tornado victims of Gordon County and Adairsville City.   • There will be a men’s breakfast at Belmont Baptist Church Family Life Center, Saturday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Former Superbowl player, Chris Reis of the New Orleans Saints, and his father, Mike Reis, will discuss their new book, The Big Game, and how God has radically changed their lives. Their inspiring father-son story of redemption and grace is being used in a powerful way around the country. Men and boys 6th grade and above are invited to attend by registering at belmontbaptistchurch.org. Cost of the breakfast is $5. Belmont is located on Hwy 53 near Office Depot and Wal-Mart.
