The event was presented by Gordon Hospital and Fitness First of Calhoun in observance of National Heart month and was held at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex, Thursday February 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Participants were greeted at the entrance with a cloth bag to carry with them through more than 20 health and heart wellness related tables promoting ways to “never miss a beat” of heart health with free advice, and free goodies. Free health screenings and healthy snacks were also provided.
People of all ages enjoyed dancing to the beat of fun music and fitness demonstrations that included Zumba, yoga and kickboxing.
Lewis Jones, graphic designer for Gordon Hospital was one of the many volunteers that made the event a success.
“My goal tonight was to get to know this community. I’ve only been here for two weeks and I thought this event would be a great way to meet everyone outside of the marketing office. It has been a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed meeting new people,” said Jones.
“This is our fourth annual Pulse and I look forward to it every year,” said Jeni Hasslebrack, Associate Vice President of Gordon Hospital. “Promoting health and wellness in our community is very important and this event shows the community that getting healthy can also be a lot of fun,” she said.
The hospital’s next event will take place in March to promote colon health.
