Larry David Young, 66, of Calhoun, also known as “Youngun” passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born in Gordon County on May 6, 1946, Son of the late Ernest and Clara Mae Watson Young. Larry was employed as a machinist by Atlanta Gas Light until his retirement. He was also a member of the Riverview Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his stepson Timothy Ray Meadows.

Survivors include his wife Linda Fowler Young; one daughter, Sonya Young of Calhoun; one son, Shane Young and his wife Michelle of Calhoun; one brother Tony Young of Calhoun; two sisters, Syble Evans and Mary Lou Young both of Cartersville; Brother and Sister-in-laws, Donald and Jane Bowman, Mike and Janet Shivers all of Calhoun; two special grandchildren, Christina and Dustin Young of Calhoun; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday March 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jamey Hunt, Rev. Harold Blackstock, and Gregg Montgomery officiating. Interment followed in Fain Cemetery.

The family received friends at the funeral home Monday March 4, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers included; Shane Young, Mark Evans, Tony Leonard, Wayne Young, Mike Shivers, and Donald Bowman.

Honorary pallbearers included; Todd Davis, Bryan Childs, Wayne Dunaway, Roy Matthews, Troy Casey, Jerry Walraven, Albert Edwards, Jerry Jackson, and the Riverview Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class.
