Sonoraville's Payton Smith (seated, center) signed a scholarship on Friday to play basketball at Reinhardt University (Waleska, Ga.).

Smith said of signing the scholarship: "I'm really excited about it. It's been a lifelong dream to play in college, and I'm pretty overwhelmed. When it came down to it, I felt like I was just destined to play basketball at Reinhardt. They really welcomed me with open arms, and it is a really good program."

Also attending the signing were: Sister Ashton Smith (front row, from left), Father Michael Smith, Mother Susan Smith, Brother Dalton Smith, Reinhardt Assistant Coach John Black (back row, from left), Sonoraville Head Girls Coach Stephanie Caudell, Reinhardt Head Coach Lindsey Huffman and Sonoraville Athletic Director Brent Mashburn.
