Though the county typically directs individuals to local charities with these types of donations, the county did take in money and donated it directly to United Way to assist with disaster relief for county residents, according to Gordon County Administrator Randy Dowling.
“The county did receive $7,822 and we gave that money to the United Way to spend on tornado disaster relief for county residents,” said Dowling. “The United Way has used some of that money to help with rental and utility deposits and other storm related needs. The donations will not be used for United Way administration or any other United Way projects. Thank you letters went out to all donors.”
