It was a mixed bag of results on Friday night as two local girls basketball teams played in the second round of the state tournament.

The Calhoun Lady Jackets made program history as they advanced to their first ever Elite Eight with an 81-48 home win over Bowdon in the Class AA second round.

The Lady Jackets (26-1), who have now won 25 straight games, will move on to host No. 1-ranked Wesleyan on Tuesday.

It wasn't as good a night out at Sonoraville, as the best season in Lady Phoenix history came to an end with a 57-50 home loss to Decatur. Sonoraville, who won their first region title last week and also won their first-ever state tournament game on Tuesday against Hart County, finishes the season with a 27-2 record.
