Max M. Hobgood

Mr. Max M. Hobgood, 93, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Calhoun Health Care. He was born in Floyd County on April 29, 1919, and was preceded in death by a brother, George Hobgood; and sisters, Juanita Hobgood and Winnell Dodd.

Mr. Hobgood was a veteran of the US Army, and was retired from the City of Calhoun.

Survivors include his wife, Rachael Hobgood; a sister, Louise Cowart of Plainville; nieces and nephews, Jane Prater and Pat Holstein of Plainville, Charles Guyton of Calhoun, Lynn Fox of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Jane Gigske of Lawrenceburg; great-nieces and nephews, Chris Frix of Plainville, Tonya Brown of Calhoun, Vickie Tidwell, and Jody Brown of Adairsville; and a host of great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Max M. Hobgood will be held Saturday, February 23 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev Kenny Rogers and Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with full military honors. Active pallbearers will include Chris Frix, C.J. Dodd, Vic Bohannon, Jerry Davis, Steve Coker, and Kevin McEntyre. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Prater, Tigger Frix, Charles Guyton, Duane Bohannon, Norman Hollingsworth, Jamien Pullen, and employees of the City of Calhoun.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6-8 p.m.
