The road to a possible state title begins tonight for two local teams.

The Sonoraville and Calhoun girls open the state tournament at home.

The Lady Phoenix, fresh off a Region 5-AAA championship, host Hart County at 6 p.m. tonight in the first round of the Class AAA tournament. It will be Sonoraville's first-ever state tournament game.

Calhoun, who won their second Region 7-AA championship in three years on Saturday, will tip at 6 p.m. against Westminster in the first round of the Class AA tourney.

The boys state tournament gets going for two local teams on Wednesday. Calhoun will host Hapeville Charter at 6 p.m. while Gordon Central will be on the road at Franklin County with a 7 p.m. tip time.
