Charlie was a long haul over the road trucker and was previously employed at Rosedale Trucking. He was of the Baptist Faith. Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Burr Caplinger of the residence; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Calvin Craig, Amy and James Stephens; grandchildren, Aaron Maddox, Makayla Verner and Tamera Stephens all of Chatsworth, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Pam Caplinger of Resaca, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Bobbie Jo Long of Christian, Miss., Ginger and Leonard Hogue of Resaca; several nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles William “Charlie” Caplinger, Jr. will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at noon at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Gerald Parks and Chaplain Jim Herman officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn., with military graveside honors provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. Gerald Parks, Aaron Maddox, James Stephens, Billy Joe Caplinger, John Taylor and TonyTaylor will serve as pallbearers.
The family received friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
