Mrs. Carolyn Ann Sutherland McGinnis, 69, of Resaca, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her residence following several months declining health. Mrs. McGinnis was affectionately known by many as Nanny. She was born in Gordon County, on December 6, 1943, daughter of the late Howard and Cora Barnette Sutherland. She was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Daneward Sutherland on December 13, 2012.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Harold McGinnis of the residence; a daughter, Teresa McGinnis Jackson of Resaca; a brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Janice Sutherland of Resaca; a sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Jether Culberson of Shannon; a sister-in-law, Diane Sutherland of Calhoun; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Jackson of Resaca;

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Ann Sutherland McGinnis were held Saturday, February 9 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Davis and Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment followed in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers included Shawn Sutherland, Dave Pass, Gary McGinnis, David McGinnis, Wayne Parker, and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Stephens and Anthony Smith.

The McGinnis family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday after 5 p.m.
