Approximately 2100 North Georgia EMC customers in Gordon County remain without power after severe weather moved through the area yesterday. Many areas were initially impassable due to trees and debris in road ways and on power lines, limiting the crews’ access and slowing the restoration efforts. Despite challenging conditions, crews worked throughout the night and have restored power to more than fifty percent of the customers who were impacted by the storms.

Efforts continue today to replace more than 100 utility poles and to re-build spans of power lines that were damaged by trees and high winds. NGEMC officials urge residents to stay away from areas where emergency and power crews are working.

Customers may report power outages through the NGEMC Mobile App, the NGEMC Mobile Web App, or by calling their local NGEMC office and using the automated telephone outage reporting system. During widespread outages, NGEMC customers may experience phone delays due to extremely high call volume. For updated power outage information please visit www.ngemc.com and NGEMC’s Facebook page.

Stay away from fallen power lines and report them immediately to NGEMC, your local utility, or 911.
