Rachel Green and Dallas Sims, front, and Elijah Doane and Bradley Weaver, back, play identical twins who are ultimately reunited following years of separation and a madcap day of mistaken identities and romantic confusion in Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. Calhoun High School’s winter production will be performed in the Gem Theatre January 24-26 at 7:30 pm, and January 27 at 2:30 pm. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students, and tickets may be purchased at the Gem box office or at the door.
The comedy stems from mistaken identities and romantic confusion. The CHS version is set in the 1920s, a time of mob bosses, flappers, and suffragettes, which adds to the play’s madcap possibilities.
The play is directed by Rob Thompson, who says of the play, “Comedy of Errors is very much a Shakespearean cartoon.
The humor is very broad and physical, and the play should provide plenty of laughs and entertainment to people of all ages.
The students have worked very hard learning this most difficult performance style.” Assisting with the production are Michael Hillman, Julie Leggett, and Casey Parker.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, and may be purchased at the door.
