Board members on Tuesday unanimously approved former board member Tony Swink to fill the unexpired term of Moyer, who resigned to take a position at Calhoun High.
“Tony previously served eight years on the Board and received more than 100 hours of school board training,” said board chairwoman Amy Atkinson. “He will be able to jump right in and support the ongoing great things happening in our schools.
“Tony knows the budgeting process and has been involved with the construction process for the new middle / high school complex since day one.”
Swink has served the community on both the Chamber of Commerce and the United Way Board of Directors.
He is a graduate of Leadership Calhoun / Gordon County and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Georgia Tech and an MBA-Finance Degree from Kennesaw State University.
Swink has two children in the Calhoun school system and his wife Tammy is a teacher at Calhoun Elementary School.
“I was blessed with the privilege to serve on the Calhoun School Board for eight years. During that time, we increased student achievement and decreased spending,” Swink said. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve in this capacity.”
Moyer defeated Swink in the 2011 election 676 to 593.
