RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say two young girls were found safe after their SUV was carjacked while they were in the back seats.

Police say the suspect forced a man out of the SUV Sunday night in Riverdale, just south of Atlanta, as he told the gunman that his step-daughters were inside.

WSB Radio reports that 6-year-old Jatura Sweeting and her sister, 5-year-old Jayla, were found safe in the abandoned SUV about an hour later on a street in College Park.

The girls' aunt, Marina Grant, tells CBS Atlanta that the girl's stepfather, told her that he was screaming at the gunman that the children were inside.

The girls were found a few hours later after a neighbor spotted the vehicle with its engine running and doors open. No arrests have been made.
