Alleged wheelchair thief linked to church burglary

Tommy Lee Holt Jr., 23, of 3219 Sugar Valley Road was arrested on the morning of Friday, January 4 by deputy sheriffs in connection with multiple burglaries, including a church.

According to reports from the Sheriffs department, deputies responded to a report of a theft of a wheelchair from a wheelchair bound individual at a private residence in the Sugar Valley community.

Reportedly, deputies located a witness who observed a suspicious person in the area.

Acting on the information the deputies received, they went to a second home in Sugar Valley where a large amount of stolen property was located including bicycles, a riding lawnmower, electronic sound equipment, power tools, a gasoline generator and the wheelchair.

The deputies returned the wheelchair to the victim, and arrested and charged Holt with burglary in the first degree involving Hall Memorial Church, burglary in the first degree involving a private home on Fairview Road and an assortment of misdemeanor theft charges.

Holt remains in the County Jail pending bond proceedings.
