According to Calhoun City Police, authorities were dispatched to KMART on Nov. 29, 2012 in response to the call. The store was evacuated while officers searched the location. No explosive device was located at the scene.
Barnette allegedly called into E-911 and stated a bomb was inside the store before hanging up.
“Mr. Barnette has been charged with transmitting a false public alarm and may face additional charges in the near future,“ Lt. Tony Pyle said.
Barnette was arrested in Resaca after a month long investigation by the Departments Criminal Investigations Division, who linked Barnette to the bomb threat.
