Roy Gardner Russom

Mr. Roy Gardner Russom, 76, of Calhoun, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012. He was born in Cairo, Tenn. on February 9, 1936, son of the late R.D. and Sarah Maye Warren Russom.

Mr. Russom was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force for over 21 years, serving in Vietnam and stationed in Belgium. He retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent. After leaving the military, he worked in electronics for Metric Systems. He was an active member of the EEA of Rome where he had many friends and enjoyed his hobby. Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His greatest passions were flying, sailing, and building things.

Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Comer Russom of the residence; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Randy Hopkin of Rake, Iowa; a brother, William Russom of Covington, Tenn.; a sister, Barbara Ray, also of Covington; a granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Ihle of Winnebago, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Keagen, Jalan, and Koby Ihle; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Russom was cremated, and a memorial service washeld from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday, December 23 at 3 p.m.

The Russom family received friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1-3 p.m.

The family requests flowers be omitted, and memorial contributions made in Mr. Russom’s name to the American Cancer Society, 200 W. Emery St., Ste 3, Dalton, GA 30720.
