Mr. Richard “Pickle” Dixon, Jr., 74, of Calhoun, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, December 19, 2012. Richard was born January 28, 1938 in Calhoun, Georgia, a son of the late Roy Richard Dixon, Sr. and Montine Lipscomb Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Jacks Dixon, a son, Rodney Richard Dixon and his brother, Bobby Dixon.

Richard was a used car dealer most of his life and was the owner of Dixon’s Used Cars for forty-four years.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Evans Dixon of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Songa Dixon, Angie and Chad Brumlow; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny Joe and Penny Dixon, Jeffery and Rita Dixon; step-children and spouses, Kristy and Richard Beasley, Wayne and Ashley McBrayer, Erica and Brandon Kempson and Dana and Josh Hall; sisters, Margie Davis and Wilma Harrison; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephew and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard “Pickle” Dixon, Jr., were held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Joe Hall and Reverend Winfred Casey officiating. He was laid to rest at the Haven of Rest Cemetery with Richard Beasley, Josh Hall, Wayne McBrayer, Adam Moore, Mitchell Dixon and Josh Dixon serving as pallbearers. The Calhoun Fire Dept served as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
