Mr. Michael Wayne Parker, 54, of Resaca, departed this life Thursday evening November 15, 2012 at his home. Michael was born April 21, 1958 in Gordon County, a son of the late Paul T. Parker and Betty Mae Stanfield Parker. Michael was a devoted husband and father , an avid hunter and he was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Serritt Parker of Resaca; sons and daughter-in-laws: Gary and Darlene Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn,; Dale and Rhonda Smith of Resaca; daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and Lenny Shaw of Fairmount; Michelle Parker of Chatsworth; stepmother: Helen Parker of Acworth; Sisters and Brother-in-laws: Pat and Ed Shiver, Bertie Putnam, Jo and Allen Cables, Brenda and Glenn Elrod all of Dalton, and Virgie and Steve Dean of Chatsworth. Special nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Mr. Michael Wayne Parker, were held Saturday morning November 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Calhoun chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Brother Steve Dean officiating. The family received friends from 10 –11 a.m. The family has requested flowers please be omitted and donations be made to the American Cancer Society at 300 West Emery St. Dalton, Georgia 30720.
