The softball season may be over, but Calhoun's Shanta McDaniel continues to gather honors for what she did this past fall for the Lady Jackets.

Last Friday, McDaniel was named to the 7-AA All-Region First Team as well as Defensive Player of the year. Teammates Carly Curtis, Taylor Kelly and Alyssa Shawgo were also named to the First Team, and Wimberley Roe was named to the Second Team.

Then over the weekend, McDaniel played in the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Game at Mercer University in Macon. She was named to the Region 7/8 Team that is made up of players from Regions 7 and 8 from all six classifications.

She played in all three of her team's games, which they went 3-0 in.
